Symposium on Modern Trends in Organic Synthesis
Department of Chemistry, Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology, Karachi, National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS), Pakistan, Nabiqasim Pharma, Karachi and Chemistry.Com.Pk | Pakistan's First Online Chemistry Portal are proudly organizing one day mini symposium titled "Modern Trends in Organic Synthesis" on Wednesday 26th February 2014 from 09:00am to 05:00 pm.
Organic Synthesis Research Group (OSRG-FUUAST) is organizing a one day mini symposium on modern trends in organic synthesis. This symposium is mainly focused on the identification of hidden skills of outgoing BS/M.Sc and MS leading to Ph.D students. Experts from academia and industry will deliver plenary lectures in the domain of modern trends in organic synthesis. The actual organizers of this event are the students of M.Sc/BS Final Organic chemistry. It is planned to be held each year in the month of February after the final year examination of M.Sc/BS Organic chemistry. This mini symposium will give an experience of organizing a scientific event to the students as well as it will provide them a platform to share their scientific achievements of lab projects /research thesis.
Why it has been named as mini symposium on modern trends in organic synthesis? It was identified in a joint meeting of academia and pharma industry EXPERTS that our country needs the skillful hands who can contribute towards the establishment of local facility of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) synthesis lab and industry. Pharma Industry Experts have pointed out that almost 80% of required API’s are imported from India and China. Pakistan is paying a huge import bill on the import of API’s. Therefore Organic synthesis research group FUUAST has an aim to prepare the skillful hands who can contribute to the development of local facility of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) synthesis lab and industry. Organic synthesis research group FUUAST is working with the collaboration of NABI QASIM INDUSTRIES for last three years and has established initial level lab facilities for organic synthesis in FUUAST. This one day mini symposium on modern trends in organic synthesis will act as a catalyst in the networking between organic synthesis research students and experts from academia & industry.
